Dani Summerlin

Dani Summerlin is a Poetry MFA candidate and a GTA/Graduate Consultant for the Robert E. Hemenway Writing Center. She is originally from East Tennessee and holds a BA in English from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her writing career began in 2011, when she won the Young Southern Writers Program award for her poem “I like to draw”. Taking inspiration from her background in visual art, Dani’s poetry seeks to preserve older styles of Appalachian writing and speech in the modern context. Formerly, she served as head art editor for Phoenix Arts and Literary Magazine.
