Sydney Patterson
MA Candidate

Sydney (she/her) is a first-year MA candidate in the English department. She is originally from Houston, Texas and holds a BA in English and Rhetoric/Writing from the University of Texas at Austin. Her primary research interest is the study of adaptation, specifically between Australian literature and films. By targeting the intersection of Australia's indigenous history and British expansion into the global south, she seeks to understand and deconstruct the colonialist modes of storytelling that represent the land down under's history and legacy.

She is also passionate about Writing Center pedagogy, and works as a Graduate Consultant in the Robert E. Hemenway Writing Center. In her free time, she enjoys working at a Yoga studio, cooking, and cheering on Texas football.
