“Griffin VanMeter Describes How Social Media and Audiences Can Help Spread a Media Campaign” Town Branch p. 77 https://vimeo.com/104015857 GRIFFIN VANMETER: I don’t think the Kentucky for Kentucky message, uh, it would’ve been a lot slower and more grass-roots without social media. I mean social media was really able to help us explode, and it, we don’t know, because before social media you’re dealing with either earned media or paid media, um, and yea, we wouldn’t have, we wouldn’t have been successful without it, and also without, I mean YouTube is social media, so that’s where our first, uh, that’s where we put our first video out was on YouTube and Vimeo, uh, and people were able to share that, and we wouldn’t have been able to publish that ourselves or distribute that ourselves if it wasn’t for social media. So I think that’s, that’s such an advantage that students have from all age groups in our current environment is that anybody can publish anything, and you see a lot of people being very successful by creating content, and that’s all kind of back to writing, it’s all content creation.
